About Dorsey

My path to becoming an attorney

I grew up in Selma, Alabama where, as you can imagine, there was not a lot to do. I focused on Boy Scouts, computers (TRS-80 and Eagle II, anyone?), and school.  I believe these things continue to drive my desire to learn and are the basis for me wanting to be defined by integrity.

After earning a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Computer Science and Business Administration, I eventually earned a J.D., an M.B.A., and an LL.M. in Computer and Telecommunications Law.  I hold or have held up to 7 various I.T, InfoSec, and Computer Forensic certifications, including the CISSP, ISSMP, Network+, CEH, and CCFE, and also serve as a Civil-Law Notary for the State of Alabama.   Finally, I am licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Over the past 27 years, in addition to practicing law, I have also served as Municipal Judge for the City of Montgomery, been General Counsel to the largest international information security certifying body, and Executive Director/CEO to the largest international geophysics organization. During my time as Executive Director, despite an historic drop in oil from over $120/barrel to under $25/barrel and our revenue falling by over 1/3, we actually improved our margins to over 10%, beating the industry average of 3%. More importantly, we improved morale and I continue to call those that worked with me "friends".

My strength comes from my sense of integrity and a desire to collaborate. If you are looking for someone to assist you with your legal concerns, please allow me the privilege of working with you.
